Open CNAM is a verification-driven caller-name service designed for carriers, MSPs, and switch operators preparing for the FCC’s upcoming caller‑name accuracy and verification requirements entering enforcement in 2026.
Under the October 2025 FNPRM (WC Docket 17‑97), providers transmitting A‑level attestation must present a verified caller name and maintain evidence showing that reasonable verification steps were taken.
We do not store, maintain, update, service, or host customer CNAM information. We cannot access customer CNAM values, we do not write data to CNAM registries, and no customer-supplied CNAM information is ever reused or stored in any form for later retrieval, reuse, analysis, logging, caching, or transmission.
We generate a CNAM return by querying three independent, authoritative datasets: first, a national CNAM database accessed through a LIDB-based provider; second, a large-scale commercial identity dataset operated and maintained by one of the world’s major technology companies; and third, our internal dataset of more than 160 million telephone numbers and associated names. Customers may submit to our dataset the preferred caller‑name information for numbers they control at no charge; this information is used solely for verification purposes and is never stored, published, or transmitted to external systems.
